Known Issues

We always want our users to have the best experience possible, but we do have some known issues that we are working to correct. We may also have a temporary solution to your problem. We apologize for any inconvenience, but please be aware of the following:

myTwonky and Twonky 7.0

Issue:
Viewing local videos in single video view displays all local videos in the bottom right with no thumbnail.

Solution:
The videos are still viewable, even though they are missing the thumbnails.

Issue:
CNN news feeds do not display the time duration.

Issue:
Beaming Facebook photos does not work.

Solution:
You must configure your Facebook account to disable secure browsing. You can update this setting by going to Facebook and your Account Settings. Select Security, then Edit "Secure Browsing" and choose disable.

Issue:
Linking Facebook does not immediately display your content on the video or photos dashboard.

Solution:
You must log out of your Twonky account. When you log in again, the content should appear.

Issue:
If you link your Facebook account and choose not to share some photo selections, they still appear on your photo dashboard even though they are not available.

Solution:
You must log out of your Twonky account. When you log in again, the content should no longer appear.

Issue:
When a video completes in Internet Explorer, you will hear the audio from the next video, but will not be able to see it.

Solution:
Exit out of full-screen mode and return to full-screen mode to view the next video.

Issue:
Authentication of YouTube account may fail even when entered correctly

Solution:
The settings of your user channel must be set to visible. This can be done by logging in to YouTube, selecting your username, clicking settings at the top of your channel and selecting Yes for "Make Channel Visible."

Issue:
In Internet Explorer, the buttons do not work when the Select Player list appears.

Solution:
Refresh the page to make the prompt go away.

Issue:
Beaming does not work correctly for Picasa online photo accounts.

Issue:
Twonky 7.0 is currently only supported on Windows and Mac platforms.

Issue:
When TwonkyServer 6.x or TwonkyManager 2.x are running on your computer, Twonky 7.0 and/or TwonkyManager or TwonkyServer do not function properly.

Solution:
You will need to uninstall and reinstall TwonkyManager or TwonkyServer through the following steps:

  • Open TwonkyManager 2.x or TwonkyServer 6.x and copy down your license key
  • Uninstall TwonkyManager 2.x or TwonkyServer 6.x
  • Install Twonky 7.0
  • Reinstall TwonkyManager 2.x or TwonkyServer 6.x

Issue:
My libraries or available servers do not appear in the drop-down list.

Solution:

  • Select Twonky 7.0 Settings from the Twonky taskbar icon.
  • Go to the Advanced menu and select Restart Server.
  • In your browser, clear your cache/cookies. Pressing Ctrl-Shift-Delete should bring up the prompt to clear your browser's cookies.
    • On Internet Explorer, you may need to uncheck the "Preserve Favorites website data" setting, so that IE does not hold on to cookies that may cause issues.
    • On Safari, selecting "Reset Safari" from the drop-down menu should clear the cache/cookies.
  • Close your browser.
  • Restart your browser and go to myTwonky.com. Your libraries or available servers should appear in the drop-down list.

Issue:
After changing your IP address, My Libraries do not appear.

Solution:

  • In your browser, clear your cache/cookies. Pressing Ctrl-Shift-Delete should bring up the prompt to clear your browser's cookies.
    • On Internet Explorer, you may need to uncheck the "Preserve Favorites website data" setting, so that IE does not hold on to cookies that may cause issues.
    • On Safari, selecting "Reset Safari" from the drop-down menu should clear the cache/cookies.

Issue:
Your renderer is no longer detected as an available device to beam to from myTwonky.

Solution:
Turn off your media player and restart it.

Issue:
Online photo accounts, such as Photobucket, Flickr and Picasa, do not allow you to connect the photo service to your Twonky account.

Solution:
Make sure you have set your online photo account to allow your photos to be shared as public.

Issue:
Music albums sometimes appear with incorrect album art.

Issue:
When streaming radio to a media player, title, artist and other metadata do not appear on the player.

Issue:
Beaming a slideshow of photos is limited to the currently displayed page.

Issue:
Clicking Recently Played and Recently Added items in the My Libraries section of the Music and Photos Dashboard pages goes to the top level of the My Library pages instead of the playback page for the selected item.

Issue:
You are not able to only beam one photo; you must play an entire slideshow.

Issue:
You are not able to view more than 100 online photos, even if you have more than 100 photos in your online account.

Issue:
When you beam a video, audio will begin playing before the video appears.

Issue:
When you beam photos, they do not always appear at the speed you've selected.

TwonkyManager 3.0 for Windows

Issue:
You need to uninstall TwonkyManager 2.0 before installing this software update. You will need to do this for all computers in your home that were running TwonkyManager 2.0. If you do not do this, it's possible that you could have two servers running at once or other problems.

Issue:
This update does not import custom metadata that was entered in TwonkyManager 2.0, including star rankings, descriptions, keywords, etc.

Issue:
In the unlikely event that TwonkyManager crashes, its player window will still be open. To close it, press the Ctrl key while you click on the Minimize button.

Issue:
If you have any problems playing media files locally, you should upgrade to Windows Media Player 12.

TwonkyManager 3.0 for Mac

Issue:
If you had TwonkyServer running on your Mac previously, it's important that you uninstall it before running this installer. If you do not do this, it's possible you could have two servers running at once.

Issue:
TwonkyManager uses the QuickTime player for media playback. As a result, we only support formats that the QuickTime player supports.

Issue:
Your media server may be named myTwonky. If you want to change it, click on the server settings button on the left.

Issue:
If you experience a crash after launching TwonkyManager 3.0 on Mac OS X Lion and receive a dialog asking you if you want to "Restore Windows," you will need to perform this workaround:

Mac OS X Lion sometimes has issues trying to restore applications. In order to get past the problem and launch again after this type of error message appears, you should delete the "savedState" directory for the application OS X Lion is trying to restore.

For TwonkyManager 3.0, you can find this directory here: ~/Library/Saved Application State/PacketVideo.TwonkyManager.savedState

If desired, you can disable this on a per app basis by opening the terminal and typing the following:
defaults write PacketVideo.TwonkyManager NSQuitAlwaysKeepsWindows -int 0

Twonky Beam for Android

Issue:
On some websites the Beam watermark may not appear even though the content is beamable. Clicking the content may still allow beaming.

Issue:
Exiting the application may stop playback on the display device, even if something else on the network is controlling the display device at the time.

Issue:
When beaming to Sony Bravia TVs, the duration and playback position may be incorrect.

Issue:
The beam control Stop button may sometimes be disabled after changing the playback position (i.e., seeking).

Twonky Beam for iOS

Issue:
On some websites the Beam watermark may not appear even though the content is beamable. Clicking the content may still allow beaming.

Issue:
In some cases, after longer periods of continuous use, the application may exit due to low memory.

Issue:
Beaming stops immediately when screen is turned off with power button.

Issue:
Putting the application in the background and then resuming may sometimes cause the application to exit.

Issue:
When beaming to the WDTV Live box, the volume is set to 100%.

Issue:
The application may be sluggish when attempting to beam content from an iOS device with a weak WI-FI signal.

Issue:
If the current page is still loading when entering a new URL or search term into the address bar, the URL may update and overwrite what you were trying to enter.

Solution:
Open a new tab / page to enter a URL or search term into the address bar.

Twonky Music

Please note that Twonky Music is no longer offered in the Android Market. For those that previously installed Twonky Music, some services will not be available after February 29, 2012, including access to artist and genre radio stations.

Issue:
Pause/Resume and volume control from the mobile device are disabled when beaming.

Currently, you are not able to beam radio streams to Sonos devices.

Currently, you are not able to beam radio streams to WD TV Live Hub. You are able to beam to other WD TV devices.

You may experience inconsistent behavior when beaming to Windows Media Player or TwonkyManager.

When you beam radio or local music, the station or song restarts.

Issue:
You will need a Windows 7 machine running Windows Media Center to beam to an Xbox 360.

Issue:
Currently, you cannot beam shared or networked music.

Currently, shuffle and repeat for shared music are disabled.

Issue:
Pause and resuming a Radio station restarts the station.

Issue:
When you have paused Radio for a long time, some devices will not resume without exiting the application.

Issue:
Samsung TVs do not support beaming MP4 files.

Issue:
You may not receive an error message when trying to play an unsupported format. The player will skip over the unsupported content to the next playable song.

You may experience intermittent issues skipping to next radio song when beaming Radio.

Album art and song details don't transfer to some players when beaming.

When your Wi-Fi signal is weak, you may receive a loss of network connection error or Twonky Music could close.

Some small-screen devices display distorted album art.

Elapsed time does not properly update when beaming or when app is minimized.

Currently, you are not able to delete songs from Shared Music play queue.

When you delete a Radio station from your history that you've set as a preset, the corresponding preset is not deleted.

Adding more than 500 songs to the play queue at one time can take a significant time to load.
